How verification works
Record n stores hash = SHA-256("kerton-catalogue-ledger/v1\n" + canonical-JSON(record without its hash)), where the record includes seq = n and prev_hash = the hash of record n − 1 (sixty-four zeros for the first). Canonical JSON sorts keys and tags dates and ids, so the same record always yields the same hash. Verification recomputes every hash and link in order; comparing the head published here with a later one proves nothing before it was removed or rewritten.
